The book 'Following the Santa Fe Trail, a Guide for Modern Travelers' by Marc Simmons has been given to the Jail/Museum. It contains maps of the trail from Missouri to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Directions are given on how to get to each historical site on the trail and information about the towns and places of interest. It will be invaluable to those who want to find a particular spot. We do have David Clappsaddle's information on the Fort Hays - Fort Dodge Trail that joins up with the Santa Fe Trail along with our book about Hampton on the Fort Hays - Fort Dodge Trail. It was one of the trails that was added to the Santa Fe Trail as the army provided forts north of the trail. The Kansas Daughters of the American Revolution have markers along the trail in Kansas.
