Again thanks to Diz Washaliski for donating both Kansas and US flags for the McCracken City Park and to Sandra and Sean for putting them up.
It was the Methodist Youth of McCracken that did the honors of laying the wreaths on Veterans graves at the McCracken Cemetery instead of the American Legion. Apologies
The Church bells in McCracken, St. Marys and United Methodist Church rang at 9:30 Friday morning in memory of those who gave their lives in Newtown, Connecticut.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Littler will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Our sympathy to the family of Everett Attwood Nichol, 85, son of Albert Lorenzo Nichol and Elizabeth Gertrude Frey Nichol, who died December 17, 2012 in Houston, Texas. He was born August 16, 1927 in Rush County, Kansas. He married Marie Louise Azzelio on May 20, 1950. Survivors include twin daughters, Toni Marie Waddle and Nikki Ann Hirsch; daughter Anita Louise Klingler; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was pre-decased by a brother Albert Ross Nichol and a son, Don. Nick spent many of his leisure years working on genealogy of the Nichol/Nickle and the Frey families of Rush County. Burial was by his wife and son in Houston.
Stephanie Greenway was pictured in the Hays Daily News on Wednesday, December 19. She scored 15 points in the game against Ness City. She was 3 of 4 from long range. Ellis won 67-46. Ellis is rated number nine in Class 2A.

A pre-Christmas dinner was enjoyed by Mike, Susan and Shannon Keith and Al and Judy Hugh at Golden Corral on Sunday. After the dinner they gathered around the fire and watched football and put together a puzzle.
Three little carolers came by on Friday night to sing "Jingle Bells". They also had an up-dated version of the song which was rousing. Thanks so much for this kindness.
The Christmas season was enhanced by the beautiful light displays around town and in the country. It is hoped you took time to drive around and enjoy them all.
The book club defied the blizzard warnings and set out to LaCrosse to have their annual Christmas dinner at the Cozy on Wednesday night. The ride home was a little dicey, but we made it. Those attending were the book club leader, Suzanne Randa, Austin McGaughey, Shirley Higgins, Tomi Rues,Carolyn Thompson and Shirley Higgins.
