Patricia Petz:

Christmas is a special time for sharing and caring, joy and friendship. On Monday, the third grade class of Rachel Holopirek were preparing their Christmas gifts for their parents and they needed some extra guidance. I along with several other ladies were invited to help the class. The enthusiasm and excitement of the children was very vivid as they prepared their gifts.

On Tuesday, mom and I made a trip to Hays to take care of a couple of appointments and then we spent the rest of the day completing our Christmas list wishes.  Unfortunately, it seems like we have lost too many of our friends from the
Mc Cracken community this past year. Tuesday evening, the St. Mary's Faith Sharing group met for the rosary for Jean Schutte. The community will miss her greatly.

I attended Jean's funeral on Wednesday and then helped with the luncheon that was prepared for her family and friends.  It is always nice to see friends that do not live in the area.

I spent Friday evening with my mother-in-law, Dolores Petz, who now lives in Ellis.  She was doing well and we had a nice time reviewing her geneology list that I am updating for her.  She wanted me to wish everyone a "Merry Christmas" for her.

Forty-one years ago, God blessed Dan and I with a newborn daughter, Angie Renee.  I'll always remember the hustle and bustle that occurred on the morning of the 22nd.  Hitting the railroad tracks in Brownell was a real challenge.  Angie was born within minutes of getting to the Ransom Hospital.  Although we had called ahead, I believe we beat Dr. McClain to the hospital.

Mom and I left for McPherson Saturday afternoon. By 5:00 we were headed to Salina to eat at one of Angie's favorite places to eat, The Olive Garden.  Along with Angie's family,Trent, Drake, and Grant, mom and I, and her friends, the Bonham's attended the celebration. A surprise visitor arrived shortly after we got home.  Santa and one of his Elves greeted the boys bearing pre-Christmas gifts.  After they got several hugs from Santa, he had to leave to get to the houses of several other children. Later that evening, the boys enjoyed making some beautiful gingerbread houses.

Sunday morning, mom and I attended mass at St. Joseph's Church in McPherson.  The afternoon was filled with many fun activities.  The boys had fun frosting sugar cookies, making a fun star ornament, making homemade chili and chicken and noodle soup along with preparing many other snack items.

Approximately 20 friends and family members of the Timson's were greeted by the McPherson Trolley at their house at 5:30.  We were driven around the city viewing the awesome Christmas lights and singing Christmas songs.  When we returned to the home, Angie served the soups, along with many appetizers, hot cocoa and lemonade. The evening  concluded by having a friend, Kristin, play some Christmas songs and having us sing along.  A beautiful Pre-Christmas party was enjoyed by everyone that attended.  I'm wishing you ALL the joys of this beautiful Christmas season! Merry Christmas!
