A friend of the late Ben Thompson, Tilla Durr, died of a heart attack in Maine on December 1. She visited here and took many pictures of the people of McCracken and the beauty of the area. She leaves a son Ian Durr.

Those who attended the Christmas party of the McCracken Main Street Literary Society were Susan Rebel, Callie Weber, Ruth Crawshaw, Kathy Holopirek, Carolyn Thompson and Shirley Higgins. They exchanged books as gifts. Anita Butler brought a gift but couldn't attend. We also missed devoted book reader Suzanne Randa. The group enjoyed a small supper following the blackout. They started out with candles.

Mass on New Year's Eve will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, December 31 at 6:00 p.m.

Neighbors, family and friends gathered at the home of Anita Butler for a Christmas coffee on December 10. It was delightful.

One of our friends has decided not to go to the KSU-Texas A & M game because he might jinx them. He will cheer them on from his recliner! During this cold snap Houston was at 35 degrees on December 19. Hope it improves.
