The service for Jean Schutte will be on Wednesday, December 19 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Jean was a member of St. Mary's Faith Sharing group. We will miss her very much. She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church since her birth. She was descended from the McCormick and Marak pioneers who settled in the Irish community in Waring township, Ness County five miles southwest of McCracken. She attended a country school and then graduated from Bazine High School. She was loved by all her nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. She and Augie had one son, Jerry. All her siblings pre-deceased her - Bet, Tom, and Alvina Foster Cole and her parents Frank and Clara McCormick.

The Herdmans have their Christmas light display up. Also thanks to those who put up the lights on Main Street.
It was nice talking to Roberta Wierman after mass on Sunday morning at LaCrosse.

Wishing all our readers a Merry Christmas and many blessings in the New Year.

On December 10th Carolyn Davenport, Hutchinson attended the LaCrosse Middle and High School Winter Program. Her grandson, Quintin Elias is in the sixth grade and plays the trumpet. It was a very enjoyable concert. For fear she would hit a deer going back to Hutchinson she was an overnight guest at the home of Quintin and Tina and returned home Tuesday morning.

A thank you luncheon for Second Chance Thrift Shop volunteers was held Monday in LaCrosse. Santa Bruce by Ryan T. Higgins was the Christmas StoryTime book at the McCracken Public Library last Saturday. Bruce is a black bear that newly hatched geese attached themselves to and the book series is all about Mother Bruce and his goslings. In the Christmas story the goslings are all excited for Christmas and don't allow Bruce to hibernate-he ends up being a cranky Santa for the woodland creatures. Those enjoying the book and salted dough bear ornament painting was Clayton Sewell, and Owen and Evelyn Keener. Be watching your mailboxes as the January/February calendar will be in your water bill or mailbox for rural patrons.

Patricia Petz:

Things were not as hectic this week as I only had to sub at LHS a couple of times this week.  As always, I had a lot of fun interacting with the students!

Friday evening, I headed to Hays to set up at the Big Creek Crossing Mall for their Annual Christmas Craft Fair.  Since we are not allowed to set up until the evening, I got home rather late.  Then Saturday morning, I headed back for the show.  There was a fantastic turnout and the Mall had plenty of crafters and shoppers.  Mom had come over to help me and we were both kept busy throughout the day. What an AWESOME mom, I could not have kept up without her help.

Sunday morning we attended church at St. Michael's and then I helped decorate the church after mass.  We had a nice group of helpers and the church looked very pretty when we were done.  Mom invited me up for lunch and she made some barbecued spare ribs that were very good.  Later I returned home and worked on trying to get some Christmas gifts wrapped.  It certainly is getting close to the deadline.  I hope to get finished this next week!
