Roy & Phyllis Conrad went to see the movie "The Blind Side" last week. If you want to see a wonderful movie, you must go see it. The cinema was over half full of teen
age kids. It is based on a true story.
I was visiting with Reba Davenport Baker this past weekend and giving her static because she wasnt putting up a Christmas tree, she called me Tuesday and said she has a 12 inch tall, 6 inches wide one sitting out, even has lights. I JUST knew she couldnt be without a tree.
John Evans, Denver, was a recent guest of Arky and Diana McNair.
Angie and Trent Timson hosted Thanksgiving at their home in McPherson. Attending were Danny and Pat Petz, Fred and Joyce Timson from Tucson, Arizona, and Mark and Tracy Cayton and sons Jacob and Evan from Cedar Falls, Iowa.
We received word that Shannon McKinney and Dale Elias were in the McCracken area hunting on Saturday.
Santas helpers with the candy sacks on Saturday were Ivan Janke, Bill, Stephanie, William & Michael Greenway, Pat and Jackie Casey, John and Sharon Irvin and Heath North, and of course Santa.
The enchiladas that were made by Chef Eric and Melissa Davis and served at the Community Center Saturday evening were wonderful. They appreciate everyone who braved the cold and snow and came and enjoyed!
Those who helped decorate St. Marys Church for Mass on Saturday, December 26th were Phyllis Conrad, Marge Moran, Michele Moran, Twila Higgins, Jean Schutte, Laura Linsey, Bet and Jeanette McCormick.
Russ Linsey had rotary cuff surgery in Great Bend this past week. We understand he is doing well.
Dave and Carolyn Davenport celebrated Midge's 95th birthday with a luncheon at the Mennonite Manor on Thursday and spent Saturday celebrating her actual birthday.
St. Mary's Catholic Church McCracken, McCracken will have Mass on Saturday, December 26, 2009 beginning at 4:00 p.m. Father Kraus will preside. All are welcome.

Priscilla Jacobs attended Confirmation exercises for Tessa Jacobs in The Church of the Holy Spirit in Goddard this weekend. Her sponsor was Nicole Pfannenstiel. Also being confirmed was Sam Thompson, son of Paulette and Robert Thompson. While pictures were being taken, Priscilla, Paulette and her sister Marsha Healy sat and visited.

The Wednesday Hays Daily The Hays Dailey News featured in their section, Take the Hays Daily News on Vacation! Michelle Moran, Marge Moran and Carolyn Thompson at Butchart Gardens in Victoria, Vancouver Island. That was a stop on their trip to Alaska. On Friday, the paper featured Lenora and Kathleen Kuchar at The Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. Kathleen is a fellow Dreamer of Carolyn and Shirley.
Al and Judy Hugh were in Denver to attend a concert by Yo Yo Ma. They were joined by Judys cousins, Carla Rodeman and Reva Rodeman Lloyd and her husband Jud.
They then went to Colorado Springs to visit Als cousin, Susan.

December 1889
Mr. Howard Barnard has begun an educational column in the Enterprise. He reports that Santa Claus stopped at Locust Grove schoolhouse on Christmas Eve. The tree, a cedar from Cedar Bluff, was literally loaded down with precious fruits.
December 1909
J. S. Wagner advertises a public sale of his household goods in the Ness City Ness. He has traded his fine new residence to J. A. Wierman of Waring Township and proposes leaving here soon for Pasadena, California.
We believe Smith and Smith have broken the record for handling candy, having sold in less than two hours one day this week $50.50 worth of fancy candy.

Lila Barber and Clyde Sultzer were married at Ness City Wednesday, December 3.

December 1939
Several new rules for basketball games this year are - the captain of the team now has to the choice of shooting the free shot or taking it out of bounds in mid-court when a player has been fouled. Another ruling is that any player on the court may call time out. However the captain may demand that play be resumed if he feels that the time out is unnecessary.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Davidson have purchased the Pfannenstiel house in the southeast part of town and are moving here from Missouri.
Joyce Showalter has been selected as a member of the brass choir at Fort Hays Kansas State College.
December 1979
The music department will present a Christmas concert The Sounds of Christmas. The program will feature a two piano duet played by Sandra Taylor and Gloria Blackwell.
Michael Jilg is one of the 15 artists who have their artwork selected to be a part of the 1980 Kansas Artists postcard series. His painting is entitled Having a Wonderful Time, Wish You Were Here. Michaels wife, Joyce, teaches second and third grade in Alexander.

Actress Madeline Kahn, 57, died Friday of ovarian cancer. She is best known for his work in Paper Moon for which she won her Academy Award and a Golden Globe nomination.
Pat Derr and Priscella Jacobs went on a bus tour to Branson to enjoy the Christmas shows and lights.
