Bill Cole and Ralph Rebel receive Quilts of Honor on Veterans Day for their military service at the Leisure Years Center in Ness City after a presentation by Commander Gary Foos and Renata Kraft.
Our Sympathy to the family of Sylvester Patrick Bet McCormick, 83, who died November 14, 2016 at his home. Bet was born April 20, 1933 on the family farm in Ness County to Frank and Clara (Marak) McCormick. The services were officiated by Father Charles Mazouch at St. Mary's Catholic Church, McCracken. Bennie Viegra was lector, Colby Stull, server, Jerilyn Stull, organist, eulogist, Kody Burns. At the cemetery the American Legion of Bazine, McCracken, and Brownell conducted the military service with the VFW of Hays. Bet was a life member of both those organizations. Those honoring Bet were Gary Foos, Alvin Schugart, John Meyer, Dennis Brungardt, Eldon Bruntz and Jerry Wassinger, Brett Gilbert, Richard Showalter and Gary Barnes. The McCracken Fire Department members, John Zeller, Kevin Anderson, Michael Greenway, Bill Greenway and Scott Keener did the Last Call for Bet who was a firefighter. RIP
Oops, this was lost in cyber space.....Friday, October 21, Frank and Elaine Littler, Pat and Terry Miller and Scott Littler traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska. They met Carol and Terry Herdman, Blacksburg, Virginia, Kirk and Janie Herdman, Leesburg, Virginia, Leanne Miller and friends, Crystal and Emily from Kansas City. Saturday they all attended the Nebraska vs. Purdue football game. Cole Herdman, grandson of Carol and Terry, son of Kirk and Janie plays for Purdue. It was a good game and a great time with family.
Lora Faiman, Sharon Lovitt, Columbia, Missouri, Brad Lovitt, Phoenix, Bob and Marlene Funk, Wakeeney, Teresa and Jennifer Lovitt, Dodge City, Anita Butler Shirley & Carolyn visited with Babe and Arlene Gilbert Sunday.
Les and Rose Diehl were in McCracken this weekend and attended all the fundraisers!!
Roy Langdon and his dad John Langdon, friends John, Marty, and Clarence, Columbia, Missouri, attended the hamburger feed given by the McCracken Fireman and the Casserole Dinner sponsored by the McCracken Library. They also did a bit of pheasant hunting.
Carolyn and Shirley attended the Service of Ordination of Christine Wagner to the Ministry of the word and Sacrament at the Presbyterian Church in WaKeeney, Sunday afternoon.
Craig & Kim Cooper, Gunnison, CO. were Friday visitors of Jean Schutte.

We hope you all saw the full moon November 14. It is a Perigee Moonwhen the Moon reaches the point in its orbit that is nearest to Earth. This Moon will be nearer to Earth than its been in 70 years (1945). It will APPEAR 14% larger than when it is at its furthest point. The full moon of November 14 is not only the closest full Moon of 1016 but also the CLOSEST full moon in the 21st century. Novembers full Moon was called the Beaver Moon by both the colonists and the Algonquin tribes because this was the time to set beaver traps.
