No one should have gone hungry in McCracken this past week-end. A breakfast was served both Saturday and Sunday morning at the Community Building; Saturday evening, hamburgers, fries and soup was served at the Legion Building; and if you wanted the real, meal deal Boondocks was serving Saturday night. Eric and Melissa Davis catered a wedding in Hays, and served an overflowing crowd Saturday evening in McCracken. Eric called on his aunt Cheryl and Ellen, his mother-in-law, Lori and friend Rose and of course his mom and dad, Bruce and Sue as his extra help!
Addie Mills visited with friends in Long Term care at Rush County Memorial Hospital on Friday afternoon. She also saw Linda Holden and was a supper guest of Evelyn Cosby.
The American Legion will be serving hamburgers, fries and soup on Saturday evening from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the American Legion instead of sausage and pancakes.
Addie Mills visited with Andy Hansen and Jack Klee on Sunday afternoon.

Marty and Tina Mills motored to Britton, Michigan for the wedding of their daughter, Rashell to Rob McCarty on October 31st. Addie and Paula took care of Rocky and Buck etc. while they were away.
Congratulations to Gary and Lindsey Boese on the birth of a baby girl, Khloe Elizabeth, born November 14, 2010. She weighed 8 lb 3 oz and was 19 ? inches long. Paternal grandparents are Howard and Brenda Boese.
Again the McCracken Beautification Committee will serve breakfast both Saturday and Sunday (20th and 21st) at the Community building serving from 5 a.m. 8 a.m. A spaghetti supper and all the trimmings will be held Sunday evening beginning at 5:30 at the Community building.
Tomi Rues and daughters, Emma and Kate, took a road trip to Topeka last weekend.
Tomi had a ZTA Sorority reunion at Washburn University. They met friends, toured the campus, saw the football game, ate out and shopped. They stayed with Tomis parents and enjoyed spending time with them too.
Our sympathy to the family of Mamie V. Crawshaw, 86, who died November 8, at Hays Medical Center. Mamie was the assistant librarian at McCracken Public Library. The visitation at the McCracken United Methodist Church was held in the morning of Wednesday, November 10. Graveside services were conducted at McCracken City Cemetery by Rev. David Bolz. She was laid to rest by her husband, Paul Crawshaw.
Eleanor Halbleib called. She is staying with her daughter, Roberta Williams, in Wichita. She had some rotator cuff problems and has been doing therapy.
Rev. C. Lucille Wehmeyer, 92, died November 7, 2010 at Colorado Springs. She was a retired Methodist minister. Services were held at Montgomery and Steward in Pueblo, Colorado.
Susan and Shannon Keith, Janet and Amanda Dennis and Carolyn Thompson were in Manhattan on Saturday to attend the Craft Show at Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Danny and Gail Dennis had a booth. In the evening they attended the Music Review at Ellsworth High School.
Our sympathy to the family of Katherine L. Ryan, 94, who died November 12 at Rush County Nursing Home. She was the daughter of Henry and Mary Wasinger Higgins. She was a 1934 graduate of McCracken High School. She married Richard Ryan in Raton, N.M. He died February 16, 1981. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Miles; two sisters, Lucy Vogle and Doris Schafer, sister-in-law, Phyllis Higgins and a granddaughter, Lynn. Burial was in McCracken City Cemetery.

Several parties from Ness county brought in loads of buffalo meat last week which they sold at the low price of four cents a pound. They report buffalo very plentiful, seventy miles out.

N. Shepherd and E. Thompson, of Dryden post office, eastern Waring township, were witnesses at the land office in WaKeeney.
November 1890
News from Hampton: Several Hampton township farmers are rustling in the east, among them the North boys, W. H. Ford, Emby Shepherd and Silas Roller. Hampton village was in motion as we went through on Tuesday, Genial Bob Brooke, Uncle Jimmie Start and Bob Burton were there and they were moving a building across the creek to make an addition to J. T. Andersons feed mill. Business is good at Hampton since our enterprising merchant buys all the rabbits, quail, chickens, turkeys, hides, butter and eggs he can get. He shipped one hundred jackrabbits to Kansas City one day last week.
Mont Plotner told us Saturday that he was going to get married. He has paid the preacher, but cant find the girl.

Frank Irvin returned Monday morning from Kansas City where he had been to see the big Kansas Missouri football game.

South Fairview school has installed a radio, which they purchased with money made at their Halloween carnival. George Doerr is the teacher.
