Ron and Ruth Crawshaw went to Fredonia for All Saints Day at the United Methodist Church to honor those who have passed away last year. Ron's mon, Mamie Crawshaw, was one of the honorees.
Memorials were given to the Jail/Museum in memory of Glen and Icis Eisenhour and Mac and Helen Showalter from Larry and Joyce Eisenhour. The Eisenhours also renewed their memberships.
We have been in contact with Duane and Alberta Kreisel. They have some items for the museum when they finish their downsizing. Most of the items belonged to Cora Anderson.
Saturday visitors of Roy and Phyllis Conrad were Randy Conrad, Liebenthal and Megan Conrad, Silvis, Illinois. Megan works at a Nuclear Pharmaceutical Company.
Our thanks to the McCracken United Methodist Church and to American Legion Post # 59 for the inspirational Tribute to Veterans held on Wednesday evening. Pastor Diana Hill welcomed the group and did the closing prayer. Babe Gilbert presented the colors with Sheryl Rogers giving the reading "I Am Your Flag". The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited by the Audience. The wars in which the United States participated in were read by Dennis Elias as Roger McNair lit candles in memory of those who served and/or died in those wars. The English Handbell Choir played "Battle Hymn of the Republic", "Let There Be Peace on Earth", "Salute to the Armed Forces" and "God Bless America". Members of the Handbell Choir are Stephanie Greenway, Sharon Irvin, Sheryl Rogers, Kerri Morgan, Deb Rogers, Brenda Legleiter, Ruth Crawshaw, Georgia Lytle, Paula Greenway and William Zeller directed by Arlene Gilbert. William Zeller, Roger McNair and Babe Gilbert presented "The Flag's 13 Folds". Brenda Legleiter did a Power Point about the Viet Nam Wall in Washington, D.C. Each veteran present stood and told their branch of service, service number, the war in which they served and their rank. Out of town veterans included Merle and Maxine Josefiack, Rush Center, and Tom Ferch, pastor of the LaCrosse Christian Church. Merle was in his Navy uniform. There was a display of military memoriabilia. Red Legleiter brought a picture of his brother, Alois Legleiter, who was killed in Guam in 1945. He is buried in the Liebenthal Cemetery with other war dead from there. The Methodist Church has a display at the entrance of the church honoring current members of the Armed Forces. Norma McNair and Paula Greenway played the piano and organ. A soup supper and reception was prepared by the ladies of the McCracken United Methodist Church.
Shannon Keith was part of the cast for the musical "Just Another High School Musical" on Friday and Saturday nights. Susan Keith was the pianist for the musical.
On Saturday the Beautification Committee planted 30 trees at McCracken City Park. They were acquired at Home Depot in Hays. They gave the committee a 75% off break on the trees. Those who helped plant the trees and trim the existing trees were Michael Jones, Matthew Thomas, Bruce and Sue Davis, Tim Rues, Don and Lynnette Doonrboss, Mark McCormick, Myron and Deb Schuckman, Brandon Curry, Victoria Gongales, Shane Miller, Frank Zortman, Michael Greenway, Bill and Paula Greenway, Ron Crawshaw, Rose Diehl and Tony Rues. Jean Schutte and Twila Higgins brought the Christmas lights to the park to be put up later. The Christmas tree street lights will be re-worked with garland and put up on Main Street. If we forgot anyone who helped, please let us know.
On Sunday November 20, at 2:00 p.m. at the Senior Center Dr. Rush Brenner will speak about his experiences in World World 11 in the Pacific and as a Prisoner of War.
On Saturday, Hoop and Twila Higgins, Doug and Mary Higgins went to Hutchinson for the 80th birthday of Patricia Wiebe. Joining them were Mike and Nancy Wiebe, Aaron Wiebe and Ryan Wiebe and family. Hoop and Twila attended church at St. Teresa's before coming home.
Our sympathy to the family of Adam Conrad, Jr., 92, of Coos Bay, Oregon. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, November 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 2250 16th Street in North Bend, Oregon, with the Reverend Father Karl Schray presiding. A luncheon will follow in the church parish hall. A private family inurnment will take place at Ocean View Memory Gardens Cemetery in Coos Bay. Adam was born on January 10, 1919 in McCracken, Kansas to Adam Conrad Sr. and Mary Burgardt Conrad. He passed away peacefully on November 7, 2011 at his home in Coos Bay. Adam served his country proudly during WW 11 in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 538 in Coos Bay. On April 2, 1945, Adam married Wilda LaRee Anderson in McCracken, Kansas. Together they raised four children. They were married for 57 years prior to her passing in 2002. Adam is survived by son, Dennis Conrad, of Coos Bay, son, Tom Conrad of Brookings; daughter, Carol Thatcher of San Diego, California; daughter, Terri Price, of Coos Bay, brother Sylvester Conrad of McCracken, Kansas, and many extended family members. Adam was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Mary Burgardt Conrad, McCracken, Kansas; Wendel Conrad, Galt, California and Geneavae Schuckman of rural McCracken.

November 1911
McCracken invaded the Claflin camp yesterday and after the dust cleared away the score was chalked up 17 to 0 in McCracken's favor. By straight line rushes the home boys carried the ball over after three minutes of play and when the whistle blew at the end of the last quarter McCracken had carried the ball to Claflin's four yard line by three straight successful forward passees. The 1941-1942 Rush County School Directories have been printed at the Enterprise shop and delivered to the county superintendent's office in LaCrosse. It is a 24 page booklet concerning Rush County Schools. With every school is listed the teacher, address, salary, experience and years in present position; enrollment of the school; valuation and levy of district; and the board members. (Does anyone have one of these?)
Miss Norma Jean Fear, who has been employed at the Whitehead Grille, spent about 10 days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Fear, before starting to work at Tad's Cafe on Tuesday.

Miss Carolyn Dennis and Mrs. Robert Nelson, Sunflower Council of the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., met recently with potential scout leaders and troop committees in the McCracken community to reactivate the Girl Scouts in McCracken. The Brownie scouts meet every Monday. Their officers are Carolyn Stremel, president; Patty Littler, vice-president; Kimberly Elmore, secretary and Jackie Peck, reporter. Leaders are Mrs. Al Rues and Mrs. LeRoy Schuckman.

Lamont Anderson, Sabrina Higgins, Dilene Solomon and Chris Jones with their sponsor, Terry Seltmann will go to New York for thye exchange program next week.
The McCracken volleyball team compiled an impressive 23-3 overall. They played second in the lA sub-state volleyball tournament.
