The Spook Parade was enjoyed by all. Those attending were Owen Keener, Nicholi and Haily Sherrill, Brad Pfannenstiel, Quentin Elias, Erica Gilbert, Taylor Doornbos, Katlyn Engle, John Doornbos, Will Rues, Kate Rues, Zoe Anderson, Rylin Anderson, Kamryn Anderson, Quinn Anderson and Emma Rues.

Ron and Ruth Crawshaw were in Wichita on Tuesday so that Ron could have his prosthetic casted.

Suzanne Randa will be the leader of the Book Club at Barnard Library each Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Let Suzanne know if you would like to study a particular book. They can be ordered in by Inter-Library Loan so there would be no cost. The next meeting is Thursday, November 8 at 6:00 p.m.

1. 1961 - It is below the seal in gold, block lettering.

2. Three Finney County brothers, Curtis, George and Ernest Baldwin.

3. Henry David Lee. Later Chester Reyonlds of McCracken went to work for Mr. Lee and was the salesman of Union-Alls. He later became President of H. D. Lee and was the founder of the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City.

4. The federal government loaned designer Carl Strandlund $37.5 million to answer the need for the national housing shortage following World War 11. They could be assembled in seven days. They cost between $8,500 to $11, 500. Many were built in our area. But the project failed.

5. 1932 rubber tractor tires were being manufactured by Firestone.

Marty and Tina Mills motored to Brookville Wednesday evening and visited with her parents, Della and Bob Miller. It was the birthday of Bob.
 
We had a wonderful group of ‘spooks’ knocking on our doors Trick or Treating for  Halloween.  
 
Honor our veterans on Sunday, November 11 at 4:00 p.m. at the McCracken United Methodist Church.  The event is sponsored by the West-Burch American Legion Post 59 and the McCracken United Methodist English Handbell Choir.  There will be a table for memorabilia of any Veterans who would like to display items from their service.  A reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall after the program.  Everyone is welcome.
 
There will be a community and pheasant hunter’s breakfast at the Community Building from 5:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on November 10th and 11th. Everyone welcome. Proceeds to the McCracken Beautification Committee.
 
Kayla Weskamp and Nicole Tacha, Springfield, Missouri were Wednesday visitors of Shirley Higgins. Nicole drove on to Norton where she spent Thursday – Friday with her friend, Jessika Smith. Kayla stayed with her mom and Lindsey Tacha, Hays, came Wednesday evening for supper.

McCracken Mustangs opened their basketball season against Odin Friday night. Lineup is Martin Higgins, Terry Herdman, Reggie Irvin, Elmer (Jr.) Baus, Ronnie Richolson. Cheerleaders are Jan Eisenhour, Kathleen Stremel, Carol Littler and Peggy Janke.

July 1962
Over 2,000 persons feasted on barbecue beef on Saturday, July 14 at the McCracken Diamond Jubilee Celebration. 72 entries were featured in the hour long parade. 

Congratulations to the Ness City Eagles on their first round win over Pretty Prairie. They will play Solomon at home; and to the LaCrosse Leopards on their win over Ell Saline. They will play Oakley at home.  
Hutchinson High School plays Topeka High at Topeka this Friday night. Tanner Higgins, grandson of Shirley Higgins, is a member of the team.
