Hampton Book items: From Bev Irvin: When Frank, Raleigh and Ivy Irvin were young fellows they lived together and batched. None of them liked to cook. John and Melanie Zeller headed for Salina Friday afternoon for the two day 17th Annual Blues Masters at the Crossroads Concert at the Blue Heaven Studios in Salina, KS. There they meet old friends who share the love of the blues who are from all over the country and some from Europe. It is nice to see old faces you only get to see once a year and catch up on how their lives are going. The Blue Heaven Studios is located in a Gothic style First Christian Church converted into a recording studio and concert hall. They put on a two day show which features old Blues Masters and some young, very talented Blues artists. Each night the concerts last about five hours in which features several artists playing varied styles of blues. The Studio has kept the very beautiful stained glass windows and wood work. The seating in the Studio is the original pews which seats around only 400 people. In the years we have been going we have seen and met many talented singers and musicians, a lot of them have passed away. While we were there, Blue Heaven Studio was recording and televising the concert over the internet.
