Mason Weber, Ness City, was recently recognized as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, National Leadership and Honors Organization at Emporia State University. Sigma Alpha Lambda is a national leadership and honors organization dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic achievement and providing members with opportunities for community service, personal development, and lifelong professional fulfillment. Mason's parents are Mike and Kelly Weber, Ness City; grandparents are Judy Helget; Bob and Shirley Weber; and Bob and Marlene Wilson Funk, Wakeeney.
Congratulations to Kyra Horesky and Bryant Reese on their marriage at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria, on Saturday, October 15.
Priscella Jacobs has given the museum a blue and gold McCracken Mustang cup.
Diz Washaliski and Marlene Funk were in Wright, Kansas, on Saturday, October 15, for the wedding of James Hanson and Dorothy Raub at St. Andrew Catholic Church. John Hanson, James's brother also attended from Columbia, South Carolina.

Our sympathy to the family of Julia Zeller, 95, who died October 12, 2016 at LaCrosse. She was born in rural McCracken on December 18, 1920 to Herbert and Ida (Darkes) Davenport. Julia was a descendant of many of the original settlers of McCracken from Whitley County, Kentucky and the Darkes family from Pennsylvania who came to America from France with General Lafayette to fight for freedom with the colonists. She married Francis Zeller February 1, 1944. He pre-deceased her. She was a striking personality with her colorful skirts and Indian jewelry. The funeral mass was conducted by Father Matthew Kumi. The casket bearers were Dan Zeller, Kiel Emerson, Willie Zeller, Chandler Petz, Lance Legleiter and Nathan Felder. Burial was in the McCracken City Cemetery by her husband and son.
A reminder about Fall Fest. . . . Saturday October 22 at the McCracken Grade School with the car show beginning at 10 a.m. 4 p.m., Lunch, soup supper, expanded entertainment for the kids, vendors, silent and live auctions. There are lots of neat items for the auctions and the vendors have such pretty items.....See you there!!
Today (Sunday) was a slow start. Saturday I totally had a great time seeing all the kids and big kids have a great time playing, volleyball, tether ball, baseball, playing in the tents, ( the little kiddos) LOL Im so glad that you all came to enjoy, the food, games, and the beautiful weather.. Jerry, Tanner and Jenna Higgins attended the Kansas State Football game Saturday evening, was a beautiful
evening, the Wildcats were winners and made it home before midnight..

We had a great day for golf, 7-teams, first place went to Gene Erb, Smoky Fairbanks, and Zack Zwietzer Second place went to Gerald Washburn, Jason Showalter, and Jesse Berg, third place to Sean Peters, Ty Elias, and Tony Harp. The rest of the players were Les Diehl, Lance McCormick, Martin Higgins, Lane Pfannenstiel, Chad Oberhelman, Chris Brooke, Scott Foos, Jeff Werth, Paul Werth, Rich Showalter, Johnny Mac Showalter, and Amanda Showalter. Longest Putt-Smoky Fairbanks, Mens Longest Drive Jason Showalter, Ladies Longest Drive Jesse Berg, and Closest to the Pin Scott Foos. We want to thank everyone for making this a great year in the world of Golf here in McCracken and our spring meeting will be in March, so keep golf for fun and we will see you all this next season.
Our sympathy to the family of Erwin Shorty Kroeger, 91, of Ellis who died October 8, 2016. Holly Gilbert was one of his daughters. His funeral will be in Ellis, Wednesday at 10:00.
