Stories from Hampton book by Chet Rogers: The Rabbit and the Schoolteacher. Once upon a time in the 1940's, Chet Rogers stopped at a Cottonwood tree just north of the Rogers house to shoot a rabbit. On their return Chet said, Do you see that rabbit by that cottonwood tree l/2 mile up the road? Out comes his rifle
Bang! He says, Hot Damn, I got it with the first shot! They drove to the cottonwood tree, Chet got out, picked up the dad rabbit - threw it in the car. Miss Donecker said, You must be the best rifle shooter I ever saw!
