A memorial donation has been given by Bob and Marlene Funk in memory of Vivian Simmons to the Jail/Museum.

With the rain we received there was also wind. Tree limbs came down along with a large tree behind Will Zeller's house.
Ali Ault has produced enough pumpkins for all the children of McCracken from her garden. She will distribute pumpkins at church at McCracken United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 13. Anyone not getting one that day may contact Allie as she has plenty. The excess will be used for the Fall Fest on November 2.

Had a nice phone call from Marilyn Conrad Sharp on Sunday afternoon. She takes the Rush County News and mentioned that when she gets the paper, the first thing she reads is Copy Cat Tales.

McCracken now has a permanent recycle trailer - no more waiting to recycle your items.

The weekend Warriors, Neal and Amy Jacobs, spent the weekend in McCracken.

A surprise 60th birthday party was given to Pete Werth by his lovely wife, Cheryl. Some of those attending were Lisa, Matt, Kerri, Jason, Audrey, Donnie Schuckman and Brenda, Bruce & Ellen Kershner, Bob House, Bruce and Sue Davis, Addie Mills and many friends of Pete and Cheryl.

Marge Elias, Dennis and Jeannie Elias, Bob Fear, Shirley Higgins, Diz and Wilma Washaliski attended the 50th wedding anniversary celebration for John and Jeanne Walker in Greenleaf, Kansas. It was held Saturday, September 28 at the American Legion building.

Kyra Horesky will be the “ASSISTANT” basketball coach for the middle school in Sterling. She commented she gets to do the two things she has always wanted to do, teach and coach. Congratulations Kyra!!

HISTORY NOTES October 1953

A son, Peter Mark, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Pete Derr September 24.

A son, Lee Allen, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Allen Showalter September 26.

A tower site for a new television station in Central Kansas has been selected. The station plans to operate on TV channel 2 and will be located on north US Highway 281.

Al Rues, Elmore Ryan and Kellye Hart attended the Notre Dame – OU game Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilson will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary at their home.

James Rixon recently made an initial purchase of four registered Ayrshires.

Those reporting for pre-induction are Erman Oelkers and Julius Unrein.

Ann Elias is named State 4-H champ in the home improvement project.

A girl, Jennifer Lee, was born October 17 to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gaschler.

Mrs. E.E. McGimsey died Sunday. Burial was in McCracken.

M/Sgt. Cecil Mills will arrive here from Japan where he has been stationed with the Air Force for the past 15 months.

Kenneth Showalter left for Wichita where he is employed at the Standard Oil Station

A boy, Kent Wayne, was born October 21 to Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Holmes

Joe Enoch, 80, died of a heart attack October 23. Burial was in the Ramsey Cemetery.

Mrs. Ada Beason left for her home in LosAngeles after visiting her father, P.B. Metz.

A son, Johnnie Mac, was born October 29, to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Showalter.
