Japanese-American George Iwamoto, was a friend of James K. Wierman, and member of the 100th Armored Division in World War 11 in Europe. George entered the service prior to World War 11, but when the war began with Japan he was interned in a Japanese Internment Camp. After awhile he was given the option to re-join the service. McCracken Sport History
1934
Saturday evening at Ellis the local grade boys again took Ellis Junior High boys into camp in a hotly contested game of baseball. The final score was McCracken 9, Ellis 8.
Ellis was out to win this game. They had a dark horse pitcher, both umpires, and their big player up then succeeded in running steamroller fashion over two of the local huskies, knocking them cold in the process and getting a score. A bad decision in the 5th gave Ellis a two point lead, and they were willing to call off the game on account of lateness of the hour. In the 6th the local lads commenced slugging them McCracken fashion. George Doerr knocked out a homerun with two men on base. This inning gave McCracken a four-point lead which the Ellis rally in the 7th couldnt overcome. The local grade boys are still undefeated but still in the red financially for their equipment.
