Our first Book Club meeting was last Tuesday. We were happy to welcome a new member, Kathy Holopirek of Bison to the group. Others attending were Priscella Jacobs, Suzanna Randa, Ruth Crawshaw, Callie Weber, Carolyn Thompson and Susan Rebel. Come and join us each Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. On the 27th we will have a “Blind Date with a Book”. Bring a book wrapped in brown paper and string, put some words to describe the book on the brown paper like “Romance, Mystery, Fluff, Historical Fiction etc. then give some other points of the books like “suspense, a clever twist, racy, a quick read, you won't be able to lay it down etc”. We will utilize speed dating!

Mark your calendars for the Fall Fest on Saturday, October 22.

Pat Russell Karns, Kansas City, Missouri, and Carolyn Thompson, attended their 60th class reunion from Great Bend High School this last weekend. A class picture was taken. It was decided to have the next reunion in two years.

Marlene Funk was last weekend guest of Jeff and Anita Butler. Marlene and Anita enjoyed Mass celebrating the church's 130th anniversary, supper at the city building to support the golf course and a nice walk around town. Sunday was work day! Painted porches, weeded and mulched a flower bed and cleaned up barn swallow nests. Fun and productive weekend was enjoyed by all.

A hamburger feed will be held Saturday, September 24, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the American Legion.

Jerry and Jodi Higgins, Mylo and Ann Oyler attended the Kansas State football game in Manhattan on Saturday.

Shirley attended a bridal shower for her granddaughter, Kyra Horesky in Russell Sunday afternoon. Joining them were Courtney, Cameron and Wrigley, Eudora.

It is HOT and we need RAIN in eastern Ness and western Rush County. I didn’t do history notes for this week.......I need ‘new’ history.....
