The Dream group began their Fall meetings on Thursday at the home of Kathleen Kuchar in Hays. Those attending were Christine Wagner, Carol Heiman, Shirley Higgins,
Carolyn Thompson and the new white poodle Owen.

Betty Fear has given some clippings about Lee and Gladys Fear to the museum and a picture of a Humburg gasoline delivery truck. It is a semi - an amazing picture.

Our sympathy to the family of Gerald Eugene Rourke, 52, Aguilar, Colo., who died August 30, 2012 at his home. He was born in Hays on October 28, 1959 to John Gerald and Dorothy D. Nemechek Rourke. He was a 1977 graduate of McCracken High School. He worked in construction. He is survived by two brothers, John and Kevin; three sisters, Kathleen Kazmeier, Marie Penrod and Louise Seltman, 11 nieces and nephews and 18 great nieces and nephews. Memorial mass was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, McCracken with Father Steckline. Inurnment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Our sympathy to Allan and Janice McCloy on the death of his mother. Funeral services were held Thursday in Texas.
 
Priscilla Jacobs was a guest of Neal and Amy Jacobs in Wichita last weekend. She enjoys spoiling that baby granddaughter, Hadley.  
 
Myron and Debi Baus Schuckman:  Myron and Debi have three children, Chrisopher works for a medical appliances supply company, his wife Kati is a senior recruiter for Koch Industries; Carissa Schuckman and Stacy Cline live in Indianapolis, Carissa works for AFLAC and Stacy is a pipe fitting welder; Caley is a student at WSU and a Nanny. Myron works for KOCH, Debi is a jack-of-all trades and doesn’t know how to say NO.
 
The Hutchinson volley team traveled to Campus where they won two games, the 1st over Campus and the second over Andover. Sue Knoebber Coffman is the coach for Andover…..
 
The McCracken Main Street Society Book Club will meet Tuesday evening, September 11,  7:00 p.m. at Gambinos in LaCrosse. New members interested are invited to attend.
 
We hope everyone noticed all the hard work that was done at the ‘old’ McCracken Grade School this w/e by Myron and Debi Schuckman and Mark Baus. It looks wonderful.
 
Pat and Betty Keener were Tuesday and Wednesday night guests of Walter and Janey Rogers. They were on their way to visit her relatives in northwest Kansas.  (Is Lenora or Logan).
 
Friday-Monday guests of Shirley Higgins were Mary Lovitt and her daughter Kelsey, Wichita. They were joined Sunday by Chuck, Tammy, John, Jerry & Pam Sipes for a late lunch after the ‘rodeo’!
 
Bob and Marlene Funk attended his Army reunion the 15th of August in Deadwood, South Dakota. Approximately 30 were in attendance.
 
Walter and Janey Rogers visited with Richard and Karol Gordon in Mullenville on Sunday.
 
Bobby Peters, Hays, came for a visit at the home of Bob and Marlene Funk in Wakeeney. On his trip through Ransom and McCracken he didn’t find anyone at home.
 
The McCracken Beautification Committee held their meeting Sunday evening at the McCracken Public Library on Sunday evening. Members attending were Rose Diehl, Allie Ault, Jean Schutte, Sue Davis, Linda Dale, Debi Schuckman.
 
The third annual Fall Fest will be held Saturday, October 13th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the McCracken Community Building. Join us for an evening of fun and festivities. From 4 – 6 there will be polka music and vendors will be showing their wares.  From 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. there will be chili tasting and judging; plus delicious soups and desserts served for all so COME HUNGRY! 6:00 – 6:30 Bingo; 6:30 – 8:00 Live Auction with great auction items. There will also be a cake walk, kid’s games and crafts including face painting and candle making and the bouncing castle for kids. Popcorn and cider for all. Don’t miss this wonderful fun Fall Fest.
 
The next Beautification meeting will be held Monday, September 17 at 5:00 p.m. at the McCracken Public Library. Look for volunteer and food sign-up sheets at the McCracken
Post Office.
 
McCracken Sports History
July 1980 The Cookie League team received 3rd place Saturday by defeating Bison 6-5. Team members are Leslie Diemer, Gary Barnes, Shawn McKinney, Jeff Scheuerman, Richard Wittman, Bruce Barnes, Joel Miller, Jason and John Moran, Kris Bromlow, Terry Showalter, Scott Wittman, Lance McCormick, Kevin Casey. Coach Jim Schafer. The K-18 final standing was 8-4. Kevin Casey had a batting average of .426 and Jeff Scheuerman .333.
 
August 1980 McCracken State Farm Insurance softball team captured first place in the USSSSA Class C Invitational tourney held at Fun Valley in Hutchinson over the week-end. Team members are Rodney Taylor, Ronnie Randa, Lonnie Irvin, Doug Higgins, Terry Peters, Craig Cooper, Leslie Rogers, Richard Showalter, Don Irvin, Steve Foreman, Mike Conner, Jerry and Chuck Higgins. The sponsor is Diz Washaliski. Craig Cooper was MVP and Chuck Higgins won the hustler award.
 
September 1980 The MHS Mustangs will kick off their football season on Friday against Wilson. Mustang members are Mike Stull, Sean Miller, Mark Brackney, John Moran, Richard Wittman, Neal Jacobs, Gary Barnes, Jeff Scheuerman, Doug Elias, Shawn McKinney Chris Jones, Chad Herdman and Jim Hopkins.
