Vic Parsons and his family, Sharon Parsons and her family are all going to be at the McCracken Community Building on Saturday, July 30 beginning at 11:00 a.m. for a reunion. They are inviting their friends to stop by and say hello. They very much would like to stay in touch since their parents, Calvin and Doneta Parsons are gone and this is where Vic and Sharon grew up. Please make an effort to visit. They plan to go to the pool around 2:00 so if you can’t make it to the building go to the pool.
 
The Stremel family, Lenora and her girls, grandchildren and great-grandchildren appreciate all the hard work the rodeo committee did in making the 25th McCracken Rodeo so memorable.
 
Doc and Thelma Nelson, Hayden, Colorado were Thursday overnight guests of Arky and Diana McNair.
 
Rich and Linda Conrad and Michael Conrad, St. Louis; Jamie and Rose Teel, Lake City, Arkansas were here visiting with Sylvester Conrad this past week.
 
Bay Edgin, sister of Betty Fear, Roger and Arky McNair, and her friend Joyce were here visiting from Marianna, Arkansas for a week. They were guests of Betty Fear. They were joined on Thursday evening by Norma and Roger McNair, Arky and Diana McNair, Charlotte Ochs, Doc and Thelma Nelson for a lasagna supper.
 
Mike Heil and Laurie Bernstein, Eugene, Oregon were overnight guests in the home of Les and Rose Diehl on Saturday. They left Eugene on June 17 at 9 a.m. on their bicycles for Alexandria, Virginia. Mike is a neighbor of Scott Diehl, brother of Les in Eugene. In Kansas they stayed overnight in Leoti, Scott City, Ness City, McCracken, Great Bend and Lyons. They didn’t know where they would be after Lyons. >From Alexandria they will go with Mike’s brother Tom and Linda Heil to New York where they will all meet their brother Jeff Heil. Mike and Laurie made the comment that the rural communities in Kansas are very welcoming and the people are so friendly. Mike said the wind always blows, you just never know from which direction.

A birthday party in honor of Twila Higgins and Joan Micheli was held at the home of Joan on Saturday night.  Attending were Bruce and Meredyth Winter, Jean Schutte, Russ Linsey, Mark McCormick, Jim and Lisa Benteman, Bison, Hoop Higgins and the birthday girls, Twila and Joan.
 
Francis Zeller is a patient at Hays Med after having surgery to repair a break in his hip.  He is taking therapy.
 
Mrs. Dale Monroe returned home after an extended stay at Hays Med.
 
Patsy (Bay) Edgin, sister of Betty Fear, and their friend Joyce Goodson, Marianna, Arkansas, have been here to visit.  On Wednesday night Betty fixed Lasagna for her family:  Patsy, Arky and Diane McNair, Charlotte Ochs, Roger and Norma Jean McNair and Doc and Thelma and Joyce.  They also had a dinner with Roger and Norma Jean McNair, Carolyn and Callie Weber.  Both Arky and Roger fixed them breakfasts.  On Friday they all had lunch at Boondocks.
 
Bill Cole is a renewing member of the Jail/Museum.  He gave a donation in memory of Alvina Cole, Robert Foster and August Schutte.
 
Congratulations to Kelsee Rogers, daughter of Leslie and Sheryl Rogers, and Bryan Hirsch, son of Fred and Joan Hirsch, who were married at the United Methodist Church in Hays on Saturday, July 23.  Kelsee is the granddaughter of Joyce Rogers.

The town of Brownell will have their 4th annual Harvest Home Picnic and the opening of the new Shungopavi Hotel on August 2.  The Utica ball team is to engage in a contest with the McCracken and Bison ball team and Ness City will play.
 
July 1941
Melvin Metz and David Hunt left Tuesday morning for Olney Springs, Colorado, where they were joined by Vernon Suher. They will go on to Washington for the apple harvest
 
July 1961
Annual St. Mary's picnic at Loretto will held July 15.  Chicken and beef dinner, $1.25 adults, children 65 cents.  Drawing tickets for these prizes:  lst prize a Shetland pony; 2nd prize a 500 lb Hereford calf; 3rd prize barbecue grill, 4th prize Sunbeam automatic fry pan, 5th prize Irish linen table cloth with napkins, 6th prize 10 cup electric percolator and 7th prize 50 gallons of gas.
