Mary Ann Tanking will be showing her new paintings in the Watson Gallery at the Steifel Theatre in Salina from July 2 through August 27th. The show is called Transcending Tradition.
Shannon Keith attended the Orientation weekend at Kansas State University this past weekend.
Susan Keith and Carolyn Thompson attended the funeral of Joan Russell Daniel at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Wichita on Thursday. Joan is the sister of Carolyn's long- time friend Pat Russell Karns. Burial was Saturday at Great Bend in the Russell plot.
Janlyn Miner Morrison, artist, fashion designer and interior decorater, age 75, died May 13, 2015 in Scottsdale. She was the niece of the late Janel Collins Ryan of McCracken. Inurnment was in the Great Bend Cemetery.
Harvest is progressing with the hot dry wind. After harvest we will look forward to again seeing some cool, wet weather.
Please bring your older toys for display at the McCracken Library. President Rose Diehl said she would like to have them displayed the month of July and of course during the rodeo.
Leroy Gilbert, 82, died June 16, 2015. He was born April 17, 1933 to Harold Hap and Lucille Flack Gilbert. He was a former resident of McCracken. Survivors are his wife Sandy, daughters, Lyna Lero, and Leslie Sager; three grandsons; brothers Babe and Dean Gilbert. A memorial service will be held in September in Merino, Colorado.
Gerald Walker stopped at his sisters, Pat Derr Sunday for an overnight stay. He was on his way south for business.
It was nice seeing Tom Tomlinson Monday at Charlies in McCracken.
I was mowing Monday and ran over what I thought was a birds nest. I went back to look and there were animals underneath the straw, sorta gross looking like maybe rats etc. I went to the station and asked Mitchell and Landon Janke to come look, they were little bunnies. Both guys were surprised I didnt suck them up into the mower. There were 5 of them. I didnt know they burrowed down in the ground. sh

Fans at Larks Park Tuesday were treated to one of the more exciting games of the season when Hays American Legion and the Brownell American Legion went at it for 15 innings before Brownell pulled it out 6-3. The impressive crew won the contest in the top of the 15th scoring 3 runs on a walk by Jerry Higgins, singles by Terry Weeks and Leslie Rogers, and a double by Glen Ryan. The team used three pitchers, Steve Foreman, Chuck and Jerry Higgins to pull out the victory. Team members are Jerry Higgins, Norbert Flax, Terry Weeks, Les Rogers, Neil Pfannenstiel, Jim Kenworthy, Steve Foreman, Rob Giess, Scott Kershner, Mark McCormick, Mike Conner, Chuck Higgins, Glen Ryan and Greg Hinman, Coach, Bill Lovitt assistant Doug Higgins.
In Cookie League action McCracken boys defeated LaCrosse 13-2 and 15-1. In the second game Tom Rues, Layne Morgan and Jerry Casey had 10 of the 15 hits.
