Ryan.  The cover shows a picture of The Cat and The Fiddle   Class work includes English lessons, Latin, compositions and Algebra.  The second item is a biography and pictures of another uncle, Leslie Allen Ryan.  Leslie was born February 18, 1917 in Alexander to George A. and Alma Agnes Rockenfield Ryan.  At age five he moved to Hollywood, Calif. with his parents, sister Hilda and brother Keith in about 1922.  They finally settled in Monrovia in about 1925.  He enlisted in the Army on 1944 and took training at Ft. Benning, Georgia.  He became a paratrooper.  Most of his service took place in the Pacific theater with much of it in the Phillipine Islands.  He contracted jungle rot and malaria and was a decorated paratrooper Master Sergeant (E-8).  His uniform carries the patches of the 11th Airborne Division and the 503rd PCRT.  His service medals and decorations were:  Bronze Star, American Theatre, Asiatic Pacific Campaign , Army of Occupation, World War 11 Victory, Combat Infantryman and Good Conducts Medals.  After returning he and his wife operated Sundune Liquors, the first liquor store in the area.  He even delivered in his little Crosley sedan – a unique service at that time.  Two pictures were included of him, one in uniform and the other in civilian dress.
