Congratulations to Dustin and Lisa Day, Lenora, on the birth of a daughter, McKaylee Marie born March 3, 2006.  Grandparents are Vic Groff, Allen and Cheryl Davis Werth.
 
Garrett Casey, son of Daryl and Barbara Casey, was a member of the Montezuma – South Gray basketball team that played in the 1A State tournament in Hays.  They were defeated the first game by Baileyville – B&b.
 
Veronica Baus was chosen to the Hutchinson News First Hour Academic Honor Team.  She is the daughter of Mark and Ann Baus, Alexander and a senior at LaCrosse High School.
 
The railroad workers are pulling up history as they are removing 60 miles of steel rails between Healy and McCracken.

The piano and violin pupils of Eleanor Snodgrass will give a recital  Monday at the grade school auditorium.  Those participating are Dorothy Elmore, Elberta Joy Twiselton, Teresa Moran, Betty Jo Twiselton, Laytha Ryan, Sybil Mortimer, Norma Ryan, Kathleen Martin, Leland Benbow, Louise Marvin, Gwendolyn Prowant and Ruby Littler.
 
Born to Mr. and Mrs. Jesse McFarren Thursday morning a fine girl whom they have named Yvonne Marie.
 
March 1956
The McCracken Grade School basketball team was 1956 runners-up.  Players are Paul Ohlemeier, Harold Herdman, David Dixon, Robert Peters, Terry Herdman, Robert Rein, Kenneth Grumbein, Kyle Rodeman, Arlyn North, Terry Wierman, Roy Jones and Dwight Eisenhour.
 
March 1976
Cathie Jo Ryan pledged Delta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Phi at the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley.
 
The McCracken Girl Scouts attended the Athenian Club meeting Thursday evening.  The Brownies presented the Flag ceremony and sang two songs.  The juniors presented the Flames for Freedom ceremony and sang the World Song.  Brownies are Michele Moran, Susan Thompson, Karen Skillet, Greta Dome and Tresha Zinn.  Juniors are Brenda Barnes, Kayla Higgins, Janet Conner, Joy Mills, Connie Wittman, Kerri Bromlow, Annette Davis and Trina Zinn.

Top spellers at McCracken Grade School are Treva Wilson, Bryan Bergquist, Billy Harp and Tyrel Elias.  Treva Wilson won 2nd in the Rush County spelling bee.
 
Congratulations to Travis and Tina Turley Elias on the birth of a daughter born March 5, 1996.  She has been named Katrina Lenora LeAnn.  Grandparents are Dennis Elias and Carolyn Stremel Davenport.
