RCNews, March 12

Received this in an email letter this week, and I think it is good to pass it on to our readers.  Barcodes are used on goods from other countries instead of ‘made in ?country’.  All barcodes that start at 690 – 695 are MADE IN CHINA.  Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer products “Made in China” so they don’t show in which country it is made.  00 – 13 is USA and CANADA.  So, look before you buy!

I received a nice letter from Marlene Bronish last week.  She said her oldest great grandson is graduating in May and she has 6 more great grandsons.  She said her ‘kids’ are always going to some sort of sport activity . . she thinks back to our ‘old’ days when we had football, basketball and baseball.  She mentioned it is also very dry in Denver and was glad they received a lot of snow on the mountains.

Dave and Carolyn Davenport returned home Sunday from Oklahoma City and arrived that evening about 5:15 p.m. They visited with Reba Baker in the ‘City” and Reba and Dave had a good time watching the KU game, (naturally they had a good time, KU won)  Reba’s son Kelly was over to visit for about two hours and Carolyn came after her meeting in time to watch the last part of the game.

In the Ad Astra part of the Sunday’s Hutchinson News there was a picture of The Holy Cross Grade School sixth grade club TC volleyball team.  They won their 4th consecutive tournament last weekend in Hutchinson. The team earlier won tournaments at Hoisington, Wellsville and Pratt Community College.  Jenna Higgins is a member of the team.

Rose Diehl spent a couple of weeks in McCracken just ‘enjoying’.  Les Diehl joined her on the weekends and enjoyed playing golf.

Congratulations to the Medicine Lodge 3A boy’s basketball team who were 1st place winners at the sub-state tournament held in Hoisington.  Joey Musgrove was a member of the team.  Joey is the son of Sandy Peters Musgrove and her husband.  They have two other sons, Bradley and Andy.

A book we recommend is ‘Those Who Save Us’ by Jenna Blum.  Very powerful.

Lorraine Ryan returned home this weekend after attending memorial services in San Diego for her niece, Linda Rice Schwenkmeyer.  She was accompanied by Marilyn Dalton and Jerry Waldschmidt.

Congrats to the LaCrosse High School girl’s basketball team this year, they were 11-10, a winning season for the first time in a long, long time!!

The Hutch Warriors placed first in tournaments held in Buhler and Wichita recently.  Tanner Higgins is a member of the team.
