Jack & Verlene Wilson celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary with a Schoenberger family get-together on Saturday. On Sunday the Wilson family gathered. Those attending Sunday were Kelly & Mike Weber & family, Arlene & Babe Gilbert, Marlene & Bob Funk, Shari Funk, Bryan & Treva Bergquist, Anna & Audra, Clayton & Kizmin Wilson and Gunner. Joyce & Larry Eisenhour also stopped by. On Wednesday Charlie Reece and Gene Argo of Hays were there along with Bob & Marlene Funk, Treva and Bryan Bergquist and Clayton Wilson.

Shirley L. Robinson, 83, Hays, died February 15, 2006 at Hays. Her twin daughters, Sharon Irvin and husband, John and Sheryl Rogers and husband, Les along with grandchildren Chase and Kelsee Rogers and Lance and Kayla Irvin live at McCracken. Burial was at Fort Hays Memorial Gardens.
Bill and Sharon Lovitt returned home the first of the week from Kansas City where Sharon had tests. The doctors gave her a good report.
Marty, Tina and Addie Mills joined Cassie and Andrew Strange at the Pizza Hut in Hays Friday evening for a farewell dinner. Cassie and her husband are flying to Hawaii where Andrew will be stationed at Schofield Barracks on the island of Oahu for the next three years.
McCracken History Notes
February 1906
The foundation is being put in for the academy being constructed by Prof. Barnard. Four acres have been purchased from Mr. A. Haas for a site just east of Locust Grove school house. The building is to be 32 x 30 and Clarence Peer has charge of the construction.
February 1936
The following folks enjoyed a skating party on the Alexander Lake last Thursday evening. They toasted wieners and marshmallows and had a real good time. Those attending Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Peer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn E. Ryan and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brenner, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Stephens and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Steinshouer.
February 1946
Miss Mildred Temple, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Temple of McCracken, who is attending Phillips University at Enid, Okla., has been named to the Dean's honor roll.
Maurice Klee will serve on the R. L. Wilson, which will be commissioned in March. Maurice has just returned from a cruise to Bermuda in a training ship. He will be a senior officer on the new ship. His father P. L. Klee left Monday for the commissioning. He will also visit his son, Joe, who is attending college at Providence, R. I.

Richard Shiney and Donald Buster successfully completed their examinations and were admitted to the practice of law at Topeka last week.
Nearly 1,000 persons including students, parents and teachers attended the grade school music festival held in LaCrosse.
February 1966
Bison High School will play host to the district basketball tournament on February 22, 24, and 25. Teams represented are Bison, Bazine, Schoenchen, McCracken, Beeler, Alexander.
February 1976
A large article appears in the February 19, 1976, RCN regarding Myron Schuckman. It was entitled "Myron Would Do It All Over Again". The article was in regard to his decision to play at Notre Dame.
February 1986
Paula Crawshaw was crowned Queen and Kris Bromlow was King of Bazine High School basketball Homecoming game. Shawn Baus was King and Susan Thompson was crowned Queen at the Ransom Homecoming basketball game. Michele Moran was an attendant. Kaira Miller was crowned basketball Homecoming Queen at Colony-Crest High School.
The new gym at Bazine High School was occupied on February 14 at a cost of $551,334.69 and will seat 1,072.
February 1996
Two books on golf have been donated to McCracken Public Library in memory of Bob Derr and three books in memory of Lester Higgins.
Kim Cao has been able to bring his family to the United States. Kim escaped by boat in 1980, but his family were able to fly from Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Siagon) to Wichita. They will make their home in Salina. His family included his parents, one brother and three sisters. One sister remained in Viet Nam as she was recently married.
