Rev. Larry Brock and wife Denise of Hill City were New Year's Day visitors of Addie Mills. They attended the McCracken United Methodist Church together and were joined by Ellen Kershner, Bob House and Bruce and Sue Davis for lunch at Golden Corral in Hays.

A swimming pool fundraiser will be held Sunday, January 15, starting at noon in the Community Building. They will be serving a ham dinner. If you are a Chiefs fan you can always take a plate home.

A phone call to ‘’Curly’ Juvenal in Alabama told us he was safe from the tornado’s that went through the state Tuesday, also Nita Walker Caviness and Tom and Nettie Davis Chestnut was not ‘in harm’s way’.

February 11th there will be an extra special event at the McCracken Public Library. There will be a display of handmade cross stitch pictures that have been hand stitched by Mary Zeller Higgins, McCracken/Lenexa and Kathy Marion, Topeka. The cross stitched pictures are now on display at the library and will be on display until after the event. There will also be a drawing for a special picture that Mary did for the event. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Library. Mary was born and raised in McCracken and went all 12 years in the McCracken Schools. Kathy is a great friend of hers whom she met through a cross stitch group in Topeka many years ago. Mary and her husband, Martin, own a little “house on the prairie” in McCracken so come home to visit often. The display at the library coincides with a spaghetti dinner with a chocolate dessert extravaganza on Saturday February 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the McCracken Community Building. The dinner will be a “free will donation”. All are invited.

Jerry officiated at St. John Friday evening; he had a nice visit with Wade and Leanne Russell.

Amy Rodriguez Hale was a 19 year old FHSU cheerleader when she fell from the top of a three-tier human pyramid in 1985 leaving her paralyzed from her waist to her toes. She was a school teacher teaching for 26 years at Garden City, Trinity Catholic High School, Morgan Elementary and Holy Cross Catholic school inn Hutchinson. She died at age 51 from cancer. Survivors include her husband Steve, children, Tori, Joseph, Katie, Michael, her father Richard and two brothers. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hays.

Lucas Gatten and Nicole Tacha were guests of Cameron and Courtney Horesky in Eudora and attended the KU – Texas Tech game Saturday evening. Nicole was excited; they had their picture taken with Coach Bill Self.

Ron and Cathie Casey motored to McCracken over the week-end where they visited with Arline Rues and friends.

Jerry and Jodi attended the K-State – Oklahoma basketball game in Manhattan Saturday evening.

Garrett Weskamp had his picture taken and posted on facebook; Kansas Tourism asked if they might use it in their ad. It was taken of Garrett and the sunset at Prairie Dog State Park in Norton. Garrett is the son of Dominic and Kayla Weskamp.

Bernadine Schultz, 67, died January 4, 2017. She was born to Harold and Iola Cahail Schultz. Rosali Reeves is a sister. There were no services.

It is wonderful to have the temperatures above freezing. I ‘admire’ Drew and Nicole Ryan VonLehe for living in northern Montana; Jeff and Kathy Lovitt Hurd in Minneapolis, I sorta like snow but 362 days of the year?????
