A mint-condition calendar has been donated to the Jail/Museum by Tim Miller, Hays. It is for the year 1939 and features a mother and child entitled "Darling". The calendar was an advertisement for H. E. Glantz and Son's, McCormick Deering Power Farm Equipment Sales and Service - Office and Yards at LaCrosse and McCracken. If anyone else wants a copy of this calendar, they may check it out on the GBT website. In Volume 1 of the McCracken History Book in February 1937 it says, "Glantz and Sons Implement are remodeling the G. W. Havlovitz building and putting in McCormick Deering tractors and implements". In June 1937, H. E. Glantz was named to the committee of Policing and Seating for the fiftieth anniversary of the city of McCracken. In September of 1939 it says, "The Lubri-Gel has rented the Glantz garage where the International Machinery was stored." We appreciate Austin McGaughey's help in finding this on GBT.
Tim Rues sent a poster regarding the "Bleeding Kansas 2013 events at Constitution Hall State Historic Site in Lecompton". They will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays beginning January 27.
