Both Myron and Debi Schuckman share a birthday on January 4. Congrats in 2016.

Christmas Eve Lynn Kochenower was at the home of Pam and Rich Leiker. Christmas night they were all at Elsie and Norbert Urban's house. They played scrabble and pitch and had homemade soup. On December 26, Lynn went to Selden to Rick and Tammy Shaw's farm. They are Casey Shaw's parents and spent the day there. On New Year's Eve Lynn went dancing with Bert Jacobs at the VFW in Hays.

The family of Joyce Rogers has given Boy and Girl Scout items for the Jail/Museum. The items included scarves and hats (Cubs scarf, Girl Scout hats from Brownies to adult). They were in a Mrs. Day's Ideal Baby Shoe box made in the U. S. A. in Danvers, Mass. The Ideal Creed was “The Shoe of the Baby Determines the Foot of the Adult. The box lid includes a way to decide the baby's shoe size.

Kay Bleakley, Mission Hills, Kansas, has renewed her membership in the Jail/Museum and has given a generous donation.

Mike and Susan Keith were in Memphis for the Liberty Bowl. Shannon was there with the band.

Molly Knight, daughter of Barry and LeAnn Knight, Hutchinson, KS graduated on Dec 11, 2015 from the American Institute of Baking in Manhattan Ks.  She received her Certificate of Baking Science and Technology. Molly is employed at AIB International, Manhattan, Ks in the Experimental Baking lab as a Research and Development Technologist, as of January 4, 2016.

Babe and Arlene Gilbert hosted Christmas Day Dinner for Holly, Brett, Courtney, Erica Gilbert and Bill Zeller. Lots of turkey and ham!

Frank and Elaine Littler entertained on New Year’s Day for our family Christmas celebration. Every body was here to celebrate. That included: Brenda and Carl Rosenlund – Scott City: Cody Prosser – Garden City: Trevor, Stacey, Brennen, Tyron and TJ Steinert - LaCrosse; Seth, Kristy, Ella, Jarrett and Tyson Packard – Gove; and Frank & Elaine. We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. Tasted good after all the turkey and ham!!!!

We are pleased to announce that WindRose Golf Club has been purchased by a new ownership group headed by Kelly Walker. As many of you know, Kelly has been a member of the Houston golf community for over 31 years, 28 as a PGA Member, and has been the General Manager at WindRose since 2003. Kelly took a leave of absence in 2014 and returned to the club in March of 2015 to purchase the club from Austin Texas Golf Ventures, with the purchase closing on December 15, 2015. Kelly has plans for numerous improvements to the facilities and will bring a renewed vitality and energy to the business. Congratulations Kelly.

Bryant Reece and Kyra Horesky and friends attended the KU – Baylor basketball game in Lawrence Saturday.

Nicole Tacha and Lucas Gatten attended the Chiefs-Oakland football game in Kansas City Sunday afternoon. Jerry and Karen Casey and friends and I’m sure Les and Sheryl Rogers were also in attendance. Ben Heeney, number 51 on defense for Oakland is a former Hutch High football player. Tanner Higgins was a team mate when Ben played.

The Health and Home Unit met at the McCracken Hotel with Ruth Stephens as hostess. Members are Frances Janke, Gladys Fear, Ruth Janke, Margaret Hair, Marie House, Edythe Baldwin, Mary Barnes, Tacy Hanson, Ruby Myers, Cora Derr, Beulah Ramsey, Katherine Ryan and Dorothy Weltmer. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brown, Kent and Lori, returned home from a 7 day trip visiting Minnesota and Canada. A surprise birthday party was held for Mayme McCormick on her 85th birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Bev Irvin celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on Wednesday. MHS football members: Greg Hinman, Mark McCormick, Bill Greenway, Randy Taylor, Dan Conner, Don Casey, Steve Swartz, Glen Ryan, Allen Kober, Mike Conner, Dave Derr, Jim Casey, Robbie McGaughey, Richard Conrad, Leslie Rogers, Gene Schlegel, Robin Schuckman, Tim Rues and Fritz Foster. Coach Bill McKinney. McCracken Mustangs trample Paradise when the Casey boys, Don and Jim, led the Mustangs to a 20-0 shut-out. First grade students are Dixie Bott, John Moran, Sean Miller, Terry Showalter, Donna Durfee and Tresha Zinn. Patricia Bott, teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Gaunt moved their mobile home on the Orville Durand farm last week. He is employed by Rush County Grain. Kansas population for 1973 is 2,301,623; Rush County 5,309; McCracken 352. Clarence Wilson announced the sale of the controlling interest in the Home State Bank and Alexander State Bank to Elmore Ryan, Bus Lamer and Donald Buster. Francis Zeller is on the general committee for the Rush County Centennial. McCracken Colts beat Ness City 20-18. Colt members are: Mark Baus, Tom Rues, Layne Morgan, Larry Buster, Jim Done, J.D. Bell, Shannon McKinney, Jerry Casey, Joe Conner, Freddie Taylor, Marty Mills, James Webs, Larry Hinman, Craig Rixon, Kellye Irvin, Mitchell Jacobs, Craig Stull, and Dale Elias.
