Mike, Mary Beth, Zach and Brendon Peach went to Don and Helen Peach's for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Also attending were: Charles and Helen Petrik from Manhattan, Josh and Jessica Petrik of Haysville, Ryan Petrik and friend Alyssa of Mission, Amanda Petrik from Lawrence, Don, Susan, Clark, Elliot, and Nolan Peach from Elbert, CO; and Ron Peach KC, MO.
The Rues family were all guests of Tim, Stacy, Maddie and Lily Rues on Christmas Day. Tom Rues arrived Christmas Day from New Hampshire and all had dinner together Christmas Day night. In attendance were Leigh and Alicia Barrett, Arline Rues, Cathy, Ron, Alex, Catherine and John Casey, Les and Rose Diehl, Tom Rues, Tim , Stacy, Maddie and Lily Rues and Quinling ( Cho - Ling) (She is from China and a student at Washburn University she stays with Tim and Stacy on vacation breaks)
Rose and Les were not able to get the full Christmas display up in the antique store because of weekends of bad weather. They appreciate what Norma and Roger McNair did....they completed the display and will have it up until the first of Feb....please check it out!!!! Better late than never!!!!
Christmas Eve the Bruce & Ellen Kershner family attended Hope Lutheran Church in Rush Center and went to Grandpa and Grandma Kershner's to open presents. Christmas day was at Bruce & Ellen, Clinton, Clayton and Addie Kershner's where the guests were Frank & Dorothy Kershner, Cheryl Summers and Shane all of Rush Center, and Bob House. Afternoon visitors were Cheryl & Allen Werth and Matt Groff, Hays and Richard & Carol Brown and Gary Brown of McPherson. Evening guests were Amanda Morgan, Cory Torrez and Lacey Reifschneider.

Ruth Irvin, Dennis & Arlene Irvin, Don & Dena Irvin, Chad, Amber, Audrey & Chet Irvin, Chris, Jana and Crissa Irvin. Christmas Day guests of Don and Dena Irvin were Kellye Irvin and family, Ruth Irvin, Dennis and Arlene Irvin, Brandon and Anna Legleiter and Baby Graycie.
Priscilla Jacobs hosted an early Christmas at her home with guests Mitchell and Terri, Sean and Sandra.
Kelly, Nathan, Nicholas, and Kallynn Petz, Angie Huggard, and Trent and Tyler Timson spent Christmas with Danny and Patricia Petz during this past weekend. Kameron Petz has been in the Hospital at Hays so he and Melanie Petz were unable to attend.
On Sunday, December 23, Jim Schafer went to Cunningham with his sister, Alan and Wilma Ross. There were 80 of Sylvia Rohrs descendants in attendance. Christmas Day Jim went to Hays to the home of Donna Engels in-laws, Bud and Dorothy Jacobs. December 26th, Father Benjamin Martin stopped by Jims for a visit. He had been to the funeral for Father Bahr.
Danny and Pat Petz hosted Christmas with their families on Sunday. Those who helped celebrate were: Mary and Leland Steitz of La Crosse; DeWayne and Vicky Foos of La Crosse; Jendee and Gratton Dalton of Bison; Kelly, Nicholas, and Kallynn Petz of Hays, and Angie Huggard, and Trent and Tyler Timson of McPherson.
John Langdon, Roy and Kathleen Langdon, Columbia, were in McCracken after Christmas for some pheasant hunting.
Christmas weekend guests of Bill and Sharon Lovitt were Scott, Lora, Rae and Clay Faiman, Columbia, Brad Lovitt, Phoenix, Teresa Lovitt and Jennifer Lovitt, Dodge City.

Christmas Eve guests of Frank and Elaine Littler included Melvin & Mildred Littler; Pat & Terry Miller, LaCrosse; Scott Littler, McCracken and Seth, Deanna and Jacee Stevens, Great Bend. Christmas Day guests included Scott Littler, Brenda, Tom, Kristy & Cody Prosser, all of McCracken and Stacey, Trevor and Brennen Steinert of LaCrosse.
Allen and Cheryl Werth enjoyed Christmas at their home in Hays. Guests were Lisa, Dustin, Keldon and McKaylee Day, Lenora; Kari Groff and Steve Priddy, Kansas City; Matt Groff and Stephanie Spradlin, Hays, and Grandpa Bob House. We all had a good time and the kids had a ball.
December 22 the Eisenhours celebrated Christmas with Icis Eisenhour at the Rest Home. Larry & Joyce Eisenhour of Salina, Dwight and Sherry Eisenhour and Katie McDowell of Cimarron, Jan & Arlyn North of McCracken, Frank & Elaine Littler of LaCrosse and Ronn, Sarah, & Aidan Martin of Fort Worth Texas.
The brother of Icis Eisenhour, Glen McKenzie, Gold Canyon, Arizona passed away on Christmas Day.
Bruce and Sue Davis spent Christmas with Tom and Nettie Chestnut and family in Headland, Alabama.
Walter and Janey Rogers hosted an early Christmas with guests, Pete and Terri Cox, Deb Rogers and girls and grandchildren, Kevin Anderson, William and Brenda Keener.
Dave and Carolyn Davenport hosted a pre-Christmas dinner on Sunday evening with family and traveled to Colby for Christmas with Travis Elias and family. Grandkids Katie and Tanner Elias returned home with them to spend their Christmas break. They visited Midge Davenport at the Manor Christmas night.
Mike, Jerilyn, Tayler and Colby Stull enjoyed Christmas at Karen and Gary Aufdemberges home in Hays. Christmas Day they enjoyed dinner at the home of John and Janice Stull. Christmas Evening they were at Alex and Twila Herrmans in LaCrosse.
Christmas morning Crystal Ryan, Chad, Anton, and Kaden Foust & Niki Ryan came to see what Santa left for them at the home of Lorraine Ryan and Glen. That afternoon they had dinner with Arlene and Babe Gilbert.
Well, we are tired of the snow. We fear the ice underneath will be here until April. It is a challenge for the livestock men to feed their cattle. Just a tiny warm-up would be appreciated. Otherwise, we wish you the Happiest of New Year 2008.
Our sympathy to the family of Kathleen Ruehlen, 83, of Bartleville, Oklahoma who died December 20, 2007. She was born February 15, 1924 in Otis to Henry and Miriam Darkes Martin. She is survived by a son, Gary; three daughters, Karen J. McCorkle, Rebecca Crisp and Kathleen Kay Sass, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest in 1999. Julia Zeller is her cousin.

Guests of Lucy Vogle and Mary McCormick on the Saturday before Christmas were Mark McCormick and family, Kansas City; Kim and Dan Townsend and family, Michigan; Jeff and Julie McCormick and Grant, Hutchinson; Lance and Garrett McCormick, McCracken. Sunday guests were Tina and Rick Barber of Wichita.
Our sympathy to the family of Woodrow Yost, 89, Alexander who died December 24, 2007 at Rush County Nursing Home. He was born April 15, 1918, on a farm south of Alexander to John and Katie Yost. He was named after President Woodrow Wilson. He married Adelia Adler on June 8, 1938 in Corn, Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Adelia; one son Joel; one daughter Rosalie Schraeder, two grandchildren and one great-grandson. Burial was in the Alexander Cemetery. Woodrow was a long time baseball coach for Western Auto. Several McCrackenites played under him.
Bill and Marge Moran hosted their annual fish dinner at their home on Christmas Eve. Their family attended: John, Ellen and Josh Moran, Great Bend; Michele Moran and Jason Moran, Rush Center; Dr. David and Mrs. Stacy Moran, Nick, Zack and Abbie Moran, Wichita; Clark and Nicole Kirk and Maddie, Burrton.
Reed and Dayle Blackwell, Denver, have a new baby boy, Masyn Storm, who was born October 30, 2007. Grandparents are Eddie and Gloria Blackwell and great-grandmother is Philena Baus.

A team belonging to W. H. Washaliski ran away Wednesday afternoon injuring Mrs. Washaliski but to what extent we have not been able to learn.
January 1938
Fern Barnett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Z. L. Barnett, died Sunday at Wesley hospital in Wichita. She was 32 years old.
Basil Ryan and Jack Edwards seemingly like to brag on the toughness of the boys down on south Main. That district is inhabited by the gas house boys and its always windy down there. As a matter of fact its very windy when the above mentioned can be found.
The Hampton township expenditures paid to Fred Oelkers, Fred Curtis, G. H. Anderson, G. L. Nickel, M. L. Morris, Chas. Rodeman for meetings; O. S. Rogers, Chas. Rider, Jake Priddy and Alfred Crotinger for shoveling snow for the month of January.

Rosemary Duncker of Ford and Carl Warren Kraus of Hays were married December 21, 1947 in the Methodist church of Ford. The groom is a nephew of Mrs. Percy Grumbein.
Mr. and Mrs. Pete Derr returned Friday from their wedding trip to Kansas City.
Billie Lynn Rogers, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Rogers, was born and died on Saturday. Funeral services were conducted on Monday morning at Hays. The child is also survived by paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Rogers and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Wilhelm.

Don Irvin had the misfortune of getting his leg broke Friday at the school grounds while playing on the slide.
Jodene Dawson is taking nurses training at Wesley Hospital in Wichita.
Reginald Malcolm Washaliski died unexpectedly January 1, 1958, of a heart attack. He was born in 1903 on a farm southwest of McCracken. Survivors include his wife, Loretta; two sons, William H. and Malcolm; daughters, Mrs. Vernon Blue, Mrs. Lloyd Holmes and Marietta Washaliski. Burial was in the McCracken Cemetery.

Richard Baldwin was the coordinator of the first fur auction ever held in western Kansas. Between 50 and 75 people, trappers, buyers and those just interested gathered at the LaCrosse City Auditorium.

Peter Mark Derr broke a leg when falling on the ice.
Lester V. Irvin, 86, died December 20, 1997 at Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was the son of Ray and Stella Cross Irvin.
