Bob Fear and his daughter Nicole Tarbell attended graduation exercises Saturday, December 20th, at Harding University, Searcy, Arkansas. Shawn and Robert Fear, sons of Pam and the late Robert Fear and grandsons of Bob and Margaret Fear were two of the 436 graduates
Andy Hansen and Addie Mills met Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Karlin and Mike in Hays on Tuesday for a short visit and gift exchange.
Dave and Carolyn Davenport celebrated Marjorie Davenports 94th birthday with a birthday/Christmas celebration luncheon at the Mennonite Manor.
Addie Mills was a Christmas Eve guest of Marty and Tina Mills.
Carrie Higgins hosted a family and friend Christmas Eve supper at her home in Roeland Park. Those attending were her parents, Mary and Martin Higgins, her brother Joseph, and a great family friend, Ms. Ellen Eaton. Ellen is a former resident of Scott City who now lives in Overland Park and met the Higgins' through a good friend of theirs. It really is a small world. Carrie's supper was delicious and the group enjoyed a quiet evening just visiting. Christmas day was spent quietly with yummy left-overs and a movie in the evening. They saw "Bedtime Stories" with Adam Sandler and recommend it to everyone. Very cute.

Clinton, Clayton and Addie Kershner along with Bruce & Ellen went to church in Rush Center then spent Christmas Eve at Frank & Dorothy Kershner's. Cheryl Summers and Shane joined them for supper & to open gifts.

Christmas Day Arline Rues, Les and Rose Diehl met Tom Rues at the KC airport who flew in from Hartford, Connecticut. Alicia and Leigh Barrett, Ron, Cathy, Alex, Catherine and John Casey, Tim, Stacy, Maddie and Lily Rues and Mary Dunne joined them and enjoyed dinner at the home of Rose and Les that evening.

A surprise 50th birthday party was held for Bruce Davis at the American Legion in McCracken Saturday evening the 27th. A variety of food the likes of which McCracken residents rarely enjoy was prepared by Bruces son Eric along with several family members and friends. As Bruce stated during his birthday speech, There is no place in the world like McCracken. Both Sue and I are glad to be home. They cannot be as glad as we are to have them back.

A large and appreciative crowd attended the mass of the Holy Family on Saturday afternoon at St. Marys Catholic Church. The church was decorated with the crib scene that has been a part of the church from the earliest years. Our thanks to Father Kraus for presiding and for all those who had a part in the service. We thank Bishop Gilmore for permission and for approval of our tri-parish priest, Father Rene Labrador. The mass was said in honor of the late William Moran.
Mike, Susan and Shannon Keith hosted a Christmas Eve dinner for Ben Thompson, Galen Allen and Carolyn Thompson.
Shannon and Donna McKinney were here on Tuesday visiting friends. They were enroute to his uncles at Sublette.

January 1899
When John Edwards went out to feed his horse Monday morning, he found that someone had stolen the halter. The fact that the horse was left proves that the halter was the more valuable article.
January 1909
The Hampton and Fairview boys had a rabbit hunt Wednesday afternoon and by agreement went out two hours and a half. They were known as the north and south sides and fifteen young men composed the two parties. The result of the two and one half hours sport was 168 rabbits. Jay Landon standing as high man with 26 to his credit. The boys had a big oyster supper last night at J. E. Nichols as a climax to their fun. Henry Hardwick commanded the north side and George Joseph the south side.
